Stop Blaming Social Media—Fix Your Website First
No Buttons, No Contact Info, No Sales: Why Your Website Isn’t Converting
Okay, I’m just going to say it: most business websites are a hot mess. There. I said it. Not because I enjoy roasting your digital home, but because I genuinely want your business to win. And that’s not happening if your website is confusing, clunky, or—brace yourself—designed by your cousin who “knows a little HTML.”
Let’s talk about what’s going wrong (and how to fix it before your dream clients peace out and hire someone else).
1. Your Website Has Zero Conversion Strategy
So you’ve got a homepage. Maybe even a cute color palette and a slogan. But where are the buttons? Where’s the clear call to action? Why are we four scrolls deep and still wondering what you actually want us to do?
Your website should be bossy—in a nice way. It should tell your visitors:
What you do
Who you do it for
Why they should trust you
And exactly what the heck to click next
If your “Book Now,” “Get a Quote,” or “Shop the Collection” buttons are hiding like they’re in the Witness Protection Program, you’re leaving money on the table. Make it obvious. Make it frequent. Make it impossible to miss.
2. There’s No Way to Contact You (?!)
This one blows my mind. You want customers, right? Then why is there no contact form, no email, no phone number—nothing? It's 2025. People expect instant access. They should not have to go on a scavenger hunt to reach you.
At the very least, your site should include:
A clear contact page (with more than just an email address)
A form that actually works (test it, I beg you)
Bonus points for chat features or calendar integrations
If someone’s ready to give you their money, don’t make it hard.
3. It’s Not Mobile Optimized (Yikes)
This one? The unforgivable sin.
We live in a world where everyone is scrolling on their phones while in line for coffee, sitting in traffic (don’t judge), or avoiding small talk at family parties. If your site isn’t mobile-friendly, you’re done. Over half of your web traffic is mobile. Read that again.
Mobile optimization is not optional. If I have to pinch, zoom, and scroll sideways just to read your service list? I’m out. And so is your potential customer.
4. You Tried to DIY (And It Shows)
Look, I love a scrappy entrepreneur. I really do. But building your own website with zero design or user experience background is like trying to fix your own brakes after watching a 12-minute YouTube video. Sure, technically you can—but should you?
There are literally thousands of ways to lose someone’s trust with bad design:
Cringe-worthy fonts
Blurry images
Inconsistent branding
A layout that looks like a game of Tetris gone wrong
Your website is not just “something to have.” It’s the foundation of your online presence. If it looks DIY, outdated, or off-brand, your audience is going to assume your business runs the same way. And guess what? Your sales will reflect that energy.
The Website Reality Check: Your Design Is Your Reputation
People decide within seconds if they trust you based on your website. Seconds. And if your site doesn’t reflect the essence of your brand—your vibe, your values, your vision—they’ll bounce to someone who does get it.
That dreamy logo and catchy IG bio won’t save you if your site looks like a time capsule from 2014.
What To Do Instead (You Know I Wouldn’t Leave You Hanging)
Hire a professional. This is not the time to cut corners. A good designer will make sure your brand shines and your site is built to convert.
Invest in strategy, not just style. Pretty is nice. Strategic is profitable.
Update regularly. Your website should grow with your business—not get dusty in the corner of the internet.
Final Thoughts (aka Tough Love)
You can post reels until your fingers fall off, boost every Facebook post, and spend hours perfecting your Instagram grid—but if your website doesn’t hold up its end of the deal? You’re just spinning your wheels.
Get your digital house in order. Make it functional. Make it beautiful. Make it work.
And if you need help? That’s literally what I do. Let’s build you a website that doesn’t just sit there looking cute—but actually converts.
